|I had all these fresh figs to use up... so here's what I decided to do with some of them.|
I was pleasantly surprised how good it came out! My grandmother's recipe..
2 cup raw figs, mashed
2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
2 cup plus 2 tablespoons of flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoons allspice
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped pecans
Mix sugar, figs, shortening eggs. Beat well then add the flour, cinnamon, spices, baking soda and pecans. Pour in a greased cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
