Grandma's Fresh Fig Cake Recipe

I had all these fresh figs to use up... so here's what I decided to do with some of them.
 I was pleasantly surprised how good it came out!  My  grandmother's recipe..



2 cup raw figs, mashed
2 cups brown sugar
3/4 cup shortening
4 eggs
2 cup plus 2 tablespoons of flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoons allspice
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup chopped pecans
Mix sugar, figs, shortening eggs. Beat well then add the flour, cinnamon, spices, baking soda and pecans. Pour in a greased cake pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

  7. Hi Curt, this cake look soft and moist. Very well bake but hard to find raw figs in Malaysia. So I just drool on your cake picture. LOL
